Just wrapped up my first class. 8th grade math. I walked into the room and the boys were all hitting each other with sticks. The girls were sitting and laughing. Right away, one of the students got up and turned on the projector for me and found the HDMI cord. As soon as I started talking, they all went dead silent, full attention on me. I have no idea what is in the water over here, but they were the best behaved kids I have ever seen in my life.
I went through a little presentation about me - where I was born (Washington D.C.), Montclair, and Michigan. Then I passed around some family photos and some photos of friends, Michigan, Skylar etc. They seemed to love the photos. After that the same student (Best) gave me his Line and helped me send the google survey to them in their class line. Again, he volunteered. To help me give them the work. How crazy is that. side note - I realized that after some of them asked me what “majority” means that I had to simplify the way I communicate.

Answers: Taylor Swift, and it wasn’t even close

Answers: Liverpool, Man United, Man City, no idea, no one, sorry I don't like sports
Is there anything else I should know about you?
Im kinda bad at math so don’t get mad at me🙏🙏 , (I like drawing, listening to music, playing rythm games, chronically online and I use English alot than Thai.), I am an artist🐱, I don’t good at math it so hard.😭😭, Maybe not I guess
Then, after talking through all the answers with them and getting to know them more, we had 10 minutes left. In short, for the main rule, I told them I will respect them and in return expect them to respect me. Then for the last 5 minutes I told them they could hang out and play on their phones. A group of girls sitting in front of my desk was playing the circle world guessing game where there are 6 letters in a circle and you have to make the words to fill in the crossword style puzzle. I helped them.
